I’ve been waiting since last September for this year’s LA County Fair. Over the past couple of years, Kerri’s told me of her adventures there, and I just knew I had to get in on that action.
So, Kerri, I’ve invited myself this year.
I’m doubly excited to know that Felt Club will be conducting workshops there! While the schedule is still being finalized, Cathy of California has written she’ll be there Sept. 22:
i’ll be there saturday sept 22, 10am - 3 pm, demonstrating a project i found in a 1965 “family circle” magazine. i’ll even have some kits available for sale. hope you can stop by!
Here are a few of the other craftacular events Felt Club teased me with in their email:
Learn to make mini-books with tyler bender book co, sew up a cute headband with queen puff puff, create colorful charm jewelry with charcoal designs, make needle-felted animals with sew darn cute, create fun sock creatures with jek in the box, and amigurumi with mr. funky.
And I’m triply excited by this blurb on the Fair’s website:
This year the deep-fried-everything-on-a-stick theme has pushed Fair food vendors to even greater flights of imagination.
(Anyone around me a few years back during my ‘french toast on a stick’ concept will understand the appeal of this for me.)
You won’t catch me on a ferris wheel though. Did you read about this ferris wheel accident last week? Those things have always freaked me out. But I heart rollercoasters. Go figure. Perhaps because roller coasters provide their thrill in a rip-the-band-aid-off-quickly sort of way. The slow ride on a ferris wheel allows ample time to ruminate about the unnatural heights and motions as the cog wheels tauntingly creak at you.

Ahem. I’d like to invite myself along, too. Me! Me! I saw that Cathy was going to be there, and I’d love to engage in a little heroine-worship.
Cool! Here we come, Kerri!
