Something for everyone

Cheerios + sparkling wine = everyone’s happy

Today was a totally uninspired day.  I just couldn’t concentrate.  Actually, I could barely conjure up a thought to even have anything upon which to concentrate.  Total zombie.

I suspect the fact that Sofia and I arrived for my 9:15 a.m. med appointment at the doctor’s office, were not called in until 10 a.m., and then waited another 15 minutes in the tiny little examination room may have had something to do with it.

They might as well put pads on those exam room walls.  By the time anyone makes it that far after waiting so long, one’s bound to be either bonkers or comatose.

Anyway, yeah. Could barely think today, let alone come up with anything interesting to write for this NaBloPoMo ball and chain.  (Actually, it hasn’t been so bad.  And it’s introduced me to some really great people.)

After my med appointment, I dropped Sofie off at daycare, then stopped at the grocery store before heading into work.  I picked up a box of Cheerios, among other things.  I’m not sure Tim and I have ever had a box of Cheerios in our home together.  But, from what I’ve been told, Sofie’s now at the Cheerios stage of things.

I also picked up half a case of wine…  well, sparkling wine, actually.  Coppola’s “Sofia” sparkling wine.  It’s for Sofie’s 1st birthday celebration next Saturday.

(Admittedly, when debating over the “Sophia or Sofia” thing, one of the things that put Sofia on the pro side was the fact there is a sparkling wine out there with her name on it already.  And it’s in pretty pink wrapping, to boot.)

Fast-forward to arriving home after work/daycare pickup.  I’m hauling my grocery loot from my car into my home and I run into Judy, my wonderful neighbor (and fairy godmother to Sofie).  She comments, “Looks like you’re ready for a really great time!”  I gesture with the box of Cheerios in my hand, explaining that yeah, I planned on giving some to Sofie for the first time tonight.  Upon completing that sentence, I realized she was referring to the half case of wine in my other hand.  duh.

Is it official?  Have I really crossed over into some mommy point of no return?  I mean, like, PARTAY with Cheerios?!

And I REALLY must e-mail out those invites tonight.  I’m sure I’ve crossed some etiquette deadline already… I mean, today’s the 7th and the event is on the 17th.  And I originally wanted to postal mail them.  But Cori assured me my tardiness and electronic delivery is nothing to worry about because people - especially those with kids - already totally understand.  N’est-ce pas? N’est-ce pas?
