I remember when you were this big…

May 9th, 2008

I regularly keep coming up with things I want to share with anyone willing to read. I don’t though, because I figure I have to write a big ol’ long explanation about why I haven’t written in so long, and I don’t have the time to go into it, and so I decided to wait until I have the time, but the time never arrives, and more and more things pile upon my list of ephemera to share, and…

In spite of my lame absence, wonderful people continue to still give a hoot about little ol’ me. Out of the blue, Jenny started following me on my also-until-now neglected Twitter account. Thanks, Jenny. You are responsible for whetting my appetite for it once again. Melissa started following me, too, sending supportive thoughts my way. And Becky, of course. And Phil… I dunno how you dug me up from under my rock, but you made my day! And Dorian? (Who I never would have bumped into were it not for my renewed Twitter interest were it not for Jenny…) I can see we’re going to get along famously. And Janis, for her words of encouragement.

So, while I currently remain short on time for writing anything meaningful, groundbreaking, ridiculously witty, blah blah blah, I’m tired of waiting to get back to sharing stuff that makes me go hmmm… good hmmmm and bad hmmmm.

I was hipped to this by today’s Daily Candy email: Color Wars 2008. I love this concept.

When Sofie was in the NICU, one of the doctors on her team shared with us that she had a preemie, too, who’s now a happy and healthy typical teenager. There is a picture of him on the walls in the NICU washroom… tiny baby with a teddy bear lying next to him. The doctor told us she began photographing him every year with that teddy bear to show his progression.

I’m doing the same with Sofie. She received a Beanie Baby bear while there, donated by Mr. Beanie Baby, Ty Warner. Huntley is his name. Here’s Sofie and Huntley in the NICU:

I’ll upload the one from her first birthday when I get home. (Rather than NOT writing right now since I don’t have the photo on me, and fool myself wishfully think I’ll do it when I get home… The mentality that’s kept me away from here for so long.)

The juxtaposition is amazing and wonderful and makes my heart beat fast with happiness and gratitude.

So, yeah, anyway… Where was I?

Oh, yeah. Color Wars. If you decide to play along, let me know! I wanna see! :)
