Fire in Montecito (Tea Fire)

November 13th, 2008

I ran into my neighbor around 5:15pm today, who was just leaving to head up into the hills and admire the full moon. While there, she actually saw the fire break out off in the distance.

Images on KEYT’s live coverage not looking good. Many houses - estates - have burned, and areas on Westmont’s campus are also on fire.

Power went out downtown; my area has not been affected, save for flickering lights a couple of times. Just in case, I’ve pulled out my headlamp. I love my headlamp, but hate having a reason such as this to pull it out.

Hi Alexandra… EdHat is an incredible source of information, providing what is practically a play by play.

At this point, homes in Montecito, some on the Riviera, structures on Westmont’s campus… have burned.

Winds were reportedly gusting at about 70 mph, according to the local meteoroligist approx. 20 minutes ago. A few seconds ago, it was reported that winds have died down.
